John van der Sterren (Dutch / New Zealander b.1938)

Original charcoal on paper of Interior with shrine and mats is absolutely beautiful.

Born in West Java in 1938, van der Sterren immigrated to New Zealand after World War II. His main studio is in the middle of the rice fields in Mendut, three kilometers from the famous Borobudur Temple, in Central Java.

He has a second studio in Hua Hin, Thailand. His works are very popular with collectors throughout Indonesia, and many other parts of the world.

This original charcoal on paper measures 19″ x 14″.

Signed lower right. Very good condition.

This will look fantastic in a contemporary frame.
