Living and painting in a studio loft in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill, Rose exhibited at the Pasadena Museum, the Los Angeles Institute of Contemporary Art, the University Art Museum, and the San Francisco Art Institute, among other spaces. The award of a residency at the Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris in 1978 provided Rose the chance to explore and experience an international art life. With a studio in Paris as a base, Rose painted and traveled through Europe and exhibited in Paris and Scandinavia. Within days of her initial arrival in Paris, she met fellow American artist Herbert Gentry. By summer 1980, the couple established a base in Scandinavia, maintaining a studio in Sweden until 2001. Traveling frequently between Paris / Malmo and New York City, they became permanent residents of the Chelsea Hotel.
